My thesis evolved quite a bit over the year. I started down some great paths but could not make up my mind. Hopefully I will get to these ideas in the future. Hey Guys,
Check it out, I had a recent studio visit from the very talented photographer Carlie Armstrong. Her current project involves showcasing local Portland artists' work places. I was fortunate enough to be one of the artist of focus. An artists studio is a sacred place, one that captures more of the essence of the creative type than their actual work. This is the place where ideas are not only thought up but given life to. The creative process is a special thing and just as important to the works final form is it's journey there. The opportunity to look into these spaces of creation is not to be taken for granted, and it's an honor to have someone show interest in what I do. So please check out Carlie's website and see more places where other, fellow artist and creative types, do what we do.

Hi all,
I don't usually draw fan art. I was recently challenged to illustrate a piece of fan art for something I was not a fan of. I had a really hard time doing this. Actually I am secretly (not so secret now) a fan of the Harry Potter movies, but have never read the books. I can get into the long term development of characters, this is not an easy thing to create. So, to make this challenge fun I decided to have me a good sit, break from my other projects, and watch some movies. The result of which is the rejected story of Harry loosing his virginity. I would imagine there would be a mysterious bramble, a broom ride, a spark of magic, and of course some awkward adolescent moments... ha takes me back. but seriously though folks, hope you enjoy a softer side of what I do.

Hey kids,

You all should come down and check out the amazing work everyone else is doing. Oh yeah i have a few things in there as well. But that's not important, check out the flier, look there's a crazy bear wolf critter that Josh Ramp drew, and a sweet noir looking smoker guy don't know who did that one but it reminds me of Phil Hale or Jon Foster who are cool. There there's that Sally Jablonsky looking drawing in the bottom left, shes my favorite freak of nature. And of course check out what Morgaine Faye has going that's the cool leper looking person on the right. Anywho there is a ton of art coming out that you have no idea exists, so your eye sockets a favor and treat them to some visual sweets.

Some big Idea.

As a baby I would scoot around on my butt, before I crawled. Or so my mom says. I guess maybe this is some sort of metaphor for something else, like my whole life. Sure, I could have conformed and flop my face forward and crawl like the rest of the babies, but oh no! I had to be different. I had to lay my claims as an individual early on. And isn't that the nature of the creative type, to see the world differently. To examine realities and give them new definitions along with alternative possibilities. Or maybe, even in my infancy, I was thinking about multitasking. It's all about mobility with the function of your hands, right? I guess at a young age I was preparing myself for sitting in a chair and scooting it up to a desk, or for those intense chair races around Ikea. Either way you look at it, at a young age, I saw what was possible and said to myself, "nah I think I'd rather scoot." Yeah, so scooting might not be as quick as crawling, or as progressive and forward in thinking, but I'd be damned if it isn't adorable as hell when a baby does it. Never-the-less, scooting by will get you where you need to go , and in a timely fashion. Along your journey you get to enjoy all the wonderful vistas and attractions and multitask all the while.

just so you all know i am starting my thesis for artsy fartsy art school. My thesis consists of a series of ocd and neurotic illustrations. This here one doodle is called Hyperkulturemia, it's described as; a psychosomatic illness that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness, confusion and even hallucinations when an individual is exposed to art.

This is a sneak peak into this series. I probably won't post anymore of these until they are done. I want to presurve their integrity, by exposing them on the internet i fear they will lose their umph when it comes to show time. Until then keep your peepers open for other doodles.

So, on to business, I have somewhat started a thesis for my school and it hurts my brain, you know, getting all analytical an all. The following images are the little dribbles of pee pee that squeezed their way out of my brain. It's a small series that will be on display in the PNCA library (portland) for the month of october. The idea is, our hero's are all falling apart. We have grown out of our simple minds and tried on the new and improved intellectual grown-up brains, its thus about time we put away childish notions and found some new heros. maybe ones that are more comparable to our own abilities. But, then again they wouldn't be heros, more like competition. SO what does that say about our heros of the past? ah fuck it whatever. you get the idea. enjoy and feel free to comment and hate.

oh also this is not the entirety of the series, I'm still working out a few and a good "pun"ch line. SO keep an eye out. also i have prints available. be good consumers and help me pay rent.

As much as I love stormy weather, I love sunny days and front yard sidewalk sales. Being a gimp hasn't slowed me down any. I recently came up on not one, but two boxes of tacky yellow frames. My first and only thought was, "man im going to have to fill all of these up." And that's just what I have been doing. Follow the link to my flickr site to see a few of the pieces I have done so far. Breaking yourself is never fun and being broke is even worse, somethings you can walk away from, and others take a life time to recover from. The "art of broke off," is an idealists' hope that the art community and friends there of, know this pain and are willing to aid in the recuperation, of those struck by bad luck and a crappy economy. Kungfutoast is hereby inviting everyone to submit a piece of art or literature and to spread the word of this cause.

Theme: send me some art with the theme "broke off," this encompasses anything to do with being broke broken or braking.

WHERE: All art will be posted on the blog "kungfutoast.blogspot.com" and made into a zine. also if you are into the idea, sold off to pay for my yet unknown medical billz, that I'm sure will be a little spendy, making me twice as broke. SO, here's the deal,

Sure a lot of people are jobless (I'm one of them), and a lot of people are struggling to pay bills (again that's me), but at a social whole I am not really seeing it. Take this post for example. I am plugging a new book by James Jean, so he can make money off of sales, at the same time I'm using this fancy new Amazon plug-in to make Amazon money, and ultimately, through this process make a buck for myself. So, there it is everyone's making money. If you know how to work the system you should be alright, right?

But, enough about that. Check it, James Jean is putting out a new book, it's on pre-order on Amazon, so you can get it now and not pay like 100 bucks when you finally realize that the guy's, the tits, and want the book a year after when it's out of print.
